DEMORO
Napa County Tax Assessor’s records shows that California Nurses Association Executive Director Rose Ann DeMoro and her husband, Robert DeMoro, purchased 83.61 acres of undeveloped land in Napa, California, in 2010.
The DeMoros have since been developed the land and built a custom $850,000 home. A Google Maps search shows the property is in rural Napa County, overlooking Lake Berryessa.
According to the Napa County Assessor, with the improvements made to the land by the DeMoros the property is now valued at nearly $1.1 million.
The following pictures show the isolated nature of DeMoro’s custom home and its proximity to Lake Berryessa, more than 60 miles from CNA’s headquarters in downtown Oakland:
A search of the Contra Costa County Tax Assessor shows that DeMoro and her husband purchased 16 Evergreen Drive, Orinda, California, 94563, on December 20, 1993 for $375,000, and then sold this property on April 24, 2013 for $912,000.
Since March of 2013 (one month before the DeMoro’s sold their home), CNA has been paying $6,000 per month in rent to the Bay Street Apartments in Emeryville – next door to Oakland. Based upon the Bay Street Apartments website, this is likely for a two-bedroom furnished apartment. With the DeMoro’s home in Napa being more than an hour’s drive away from CNA’s Oakland headquarters, is the union providing paid housing for DeMoro, in addition to her nearly half-million dollar annual salary?
While Rose Ann DeMoro talks on behalf of National Nurses United about the evils of top 1% of wage earners, RoseAnn DeMoro and her husband have a salary that puts them well into the top 1% of earners, while they live in a newly-built, gated, million-dollar estate on a Napa County mountaintop – and potentially spend their weekdays in a fully-paid union apartment on the edge of San Francisco Bay.
“We were betrayed by CNA and people desperate for health care were abandoned,”
— said Elizabeth Sholes, who is known around the Capitol as “the Church Lady.”
